Soura Bhattacharyya is the Chief MedTech at Glocal Healthcare, a healthcare start-up that builds and operates 100-bed hospitals in rural locations in India. At Glocal Healthcare, He develops affordable medical technologies and heads up the IT team.
70% of Indians have no access to quality healthcare even though they spend significantly out-of-pocket. Through telemedicine, Glocal Healthcare allows delivery of expertise without physical presence of doctors.
Prior to joining Glocal Healthcare, Soura spent 5 years in the medical devices space with OmniGuide Inc., a laser microsurgery start-up that spun out of MIT, where he led product & market development efforts that helped grow the company from a pre-revenue stage to $25M in annual revenue.
Soura is the co-founder and initiator of Jugaad-a-thon, an Indian hackathon and India’s first open healthcare hackathon which brings professionals and students from across India and from MIT, Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital to challenge real-world clinical problems, with the potential to impact millions of lives across low and middle-income countries and create sustainable businesses.
Soura graduated with a B.Tech Hons. (ChemE) from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur and an MBA (High Distinction) from the Harvard Business School.
